TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the
1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!
First, we survived being born to
mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue
cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then after that trauma, we were
put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored
lead-based paints.
We had no childproof lids on
medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had
no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.
As infants &children, we would
ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pick up
on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden
hose and NOT from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with
four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread and
real butter and drank Kool-aid made with sugar, but we weren't
overweight because,
WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!
We would leave home in the
morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights
came on.

No one was able to reach us all
day.And we were O.K.
We would spend hours building
our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out
we forgot the brake s After running into the bushes a few times, we
learned to solve the problem.
We did not have Playstations,
Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no
video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no
personal computer! s, no Internet or chat rooms.......
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went
outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut,
broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.
We ate worms and mud pies made
from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our
10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although
we were told it would happen, we did not poke out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a
friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked
in and talked to them!
Little League had tryouts and
not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with
disappointment. Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us
out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the
law!
These generations have produced
some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!
The past 50 years have been an
explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success
and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good .

to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were.

Why you sound and act like a gay blogger on here with that name ,, and some people have a soul so small the even GOD has a hard time trying to find a spark of human kindness in them !!!!
Ah, I see. So you feel that my name with a reference to my family, parted by immigration laws, makes me a gay blogger (whatever that may be - is that someone who blogs with men instead of women as you and I have been doing?) and you feel that you are better than others because surely your soul is soooo big that all your anger and hatred will be diminished by your obviously humanitarian acts and words of kindness. Certainly. Thank you for clearing that up. Love thy neighbor as thyself Joe, Jesus did not say anything about loving some neighbors more than others or any neighbors being better than others.
Try not to sound like such a hypocrite or a racist when you're waving the republican banner or the American flag because it was founded by immigrants who killed all the people who were indiginous in the name of freedoms they wanted only for themselves. But our forefathers intended these freedoms to be for everyone regardless of their religious beliefs, sexual inclinations, lack of morals or lack of sense right up until their freedoms step on someone else's freedoms.

Joe, why are you so hostile? I see no reason for you to be so hostile. No, I don't want to see your papers, but all the veterans I know are a great deal more open and accepting of other's and their rights than you are. In fact, most of the veterans I know will say that they fought for other's right first, not their own. Your negative attitude was surprising in that I know many veterans and none of them have the attitude that you express, at least not in vehement angry tones.
There is no tolerance in you.
I will not kiss your butt because your an abrasive person (and you've probably got an abrasive ass). I am no one's evil (or good) twin brother. I am me. God lives in me as much as He lives in anyone else (including the gay men and women of the world).

I may be many things Joe, but a liar or a coward I am not. I have looked and seen that many of your blogs have negative comments and I can tell by the quick way you resort to insults that you have a closed mind and you let others do your thinking for you.
How anyone believe in God and feel that there are different sizes of souls or different brightness in any of them is beyond me. I still say you aren't a veteran; you are a war-monger. You are one of those people who rattle the saber of war without any inclination as to why and you are one of those who would justify the slaughter of a people with your little words and your little insults like "towel headed morons". Again, I urge you to seek out God in prayer and ask Him to guide you.
I just figured out what he meant by EKY. Jeez, I liked Joe. Still do, I guess, but he seems a bit misguided. I guess it's fun to reminisce about the "olden" days when all these things were true but it's odd to me because in my childhood, I still had many of those things (except the ones that had already been revealed to be bad) and my son still has the ones that matter (again, except the ones that I have decided are not healthy decisions for a growing young man.
God, being part of us all and being the greatest love any and all of us have for our well-being is behind our drive to be a better people. So we have great advancements and we have greater technology. What is wrong with that? It is up to us as parents to help our children learn to balance the new things that scare those who do not see them as good things (I know not all the elderly consider the interwebs and damn computers instruments of evil) with the traditionally fun parts of being a kid. Parents who have lived and learned and love in God.
What's wrong with saying that God is behind our ever present love for each other and our ever growing evolution?
