Like so many things in life, in the end, it's all about perception...
Can you handle The Truth of Taxation ?
After watching a focus group of democrats that watched the democratic debate the other day in Vegas, I literally wanted to puke. For the most part, all of them bashed Bush over and over again on how he is out for his millionaire friends and the big oil companies and he has totally forgotten or disregarded the little guy. So being an ex-IRS employee, I decided to look back on the tax tables to see if there is any truth to what they said and the media keeps stating as fact, Bush is only out for the rich in this country."
Based on using the actual tax tables (see link below), here are some examples on what the taxes were/are on various amounts of income for both singles and married couples
so lets see if the Bush tax cuts only helped the rich.
http://www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html
Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008
Single making 30K tax $8,400 Single making 30K tax $4500
Single making 50K tax $14,000 Single making 50K tax $12,500
Single making 75K tax $23,250 Single making 75K tax $18,750
Married making 60K tax $16,800 Married making 60K tax $9,000
Married making 75K tax $21,000 Married making 75K tax $18,750
Married making 125K tax $38,750 Married making 125K tax $31,250
If you want to know just how effective the mainstream media is, it is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If any democrat is elected, ALL of them say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above cant wait for it to happen. This is like the movie the Sting with Paul Newman, you scam somebody out of some money and they dont even know what happened. Now this is effective (maybe not honest) marketing or maybe a better word is brain washing.
NOW, CAN YOU HANDLE THE TRUTH ??
>>> Now stick those numbers in your crack pipe and smoke them all you liberal hillary and obama lovers !!!!!<<<<<<<

The rallying cry of conservatives seems to be these taxes and yet you are willing to elect John McCain. It doesn’t seem to me that it makes a great deal of sense. McCain will raise taxes the same as any other democrat on the ballot.
I got this in an e-mail the other day. Man, I sure wish Huckabee would get the nomination. That would be great!!

Can anyone get this tax information if one knows where to go? I checked the post again and saw a web site. I will check that out. Now the ending is a little biased--I do like Obama out of the choices I have, but I don't consider myself a liberal and I don't own a crackpipe! I'm not trying to be hateful or argumentative in any way--just stating a fact, good buddy.
Oh right you have been slapping me around. Tell me something Joe, did you ever eat paint chips as a kid?
Informative post on the taxes Joez....
My fear at the end of the next four years, the middle class in our country will be non existent or darn close...Than what ye gonna do you all????
In case folks don't know, this country runs on the bellies of the middle class, that group of which I belong........
I see you need to keep beating that Drum!!!
Dear Joe,
The "statistics" showin in your post are incorrect. They are determined by multiplying entire income by TAX BRACKET PERCENTAGE. Readers with no knowledge about the rules of tax calculation would do exactly the same thing. Actual tax calculation involves division of taxable income into several parts and taxing each part at a different rate. The exact tax rules for each year are available at www.irs.gov. Likewise, tax tables for each year can also be obtained from www.irs.gov. For example, for the year 2000 , according to taxtables at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/i1040tt--2000.pdf, income tax on 30,000 was 4,995 not 8,400 as claimed.
(assuming 30,000 is income after deductions and exemptions)
Also, you quote http://www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.HTML . This link provides the data for tax calculations, not actual tax numbers. On the same site, there is a table with the correct numbers comparing taxes before and after the cuts.
Here income before exemptions and deductions is used)
http://www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/23003.html
Income Before cuts After cuts
30,000 single $3,157.50 $2,756.25
50,000 single $7,262.50 $6,606.25
50,000 married $5,085.00 $4,012.50
60,000 married $6,585.00 $5,512.50
75,000 single $14,262.50 $12,856.25
75,000 married $9,426.50 $7,762.50
125,000 single $29,378.50 $26,472.25
125,000 married $23,426.50 $19,462.50
The difference is much smaller than you claim.
Responding to a flood of posts incorrectly using data presented on their site, http://www.taxfoundation.org/ posted an article debunking the income tax hoaxes http://www.taxfoundation.org/blog/show/22958.html

NOTE to "n carlson" shut up and eat your swill !!!!!!
What an eloquuent reply,
It seems that JOEZsREPUBLICANPAGE
cannot handle the truth.
Here a recent quote from Sen. McCain. I am sure everyone who liked "Democrats and Taxes" would like it too.
"Senator Obama says that he doesn’t want to raise taxes on anybody over — making over $200,000 a year, yet he wants to nearly double the capital gains tax. Nearly double it, which 100 million Americans have investments in — mutual funds, 401(k)s — policemen, firemen, nurses. He wants to increase their taxes."--John McCain
The fact that 401(k) investments are taxed as capital gains is as true as "Democrats and Taxes"
"Straight talk express" in action!
Note to the THREE JERKS "TR" , "bgsmith" , "ncarlson" all three of you jerks are slimy cowards who hide by using a ghost to post with COMMIES BAST357S !!!
So are you "Ex IRS employee" posing as a superman or a superman posing as "EX IRS employee"?
I am Batman!!!!
Lighten up!
If you do not want to carry a discussion, there is no need for offenses.
I shall be back to my duties elsewhere.
If batjerk had any balls it would not post as a ghost ,, COWARD
It seems that you did not get Batman’s friendly irony. I assume he meant to say, “If you are so brave yourself, why are you posting under assumed identities of Superman or ex IRS employee?”
If you were ex IRS employee as you claim in your post, you would have known how taxes are calculated. Unless, it is one of the two
1) You have had a position that did not require understanding of tax rules (administrative, janitorial, collection, etc.). I respect those occupations and do not intend to mock them. However, being employed at those positions with the IRS does not give you a right to imply that you have expertise about taxes.
2) You understand the rules but prefer to distort the truth.
I respect people who have views different from mine if they are honest and treat their opponents with respect.
Why could not you respond with some logical arguments if you believe that you are right? Offending your opponent does not prove that you are right. It just does damage to a cause you are defending.
Regarrrrrrds,
Catwoman
